LIFE program is the EU funding instrument for environment and climate action, created in 1992. The indicative budget allocated to the program for the 2021-2027 period is 5.45 billion euros.

In the meantime, 400 millions € of EU funding is available for environment, nature conservation and climate action in 2019.

Environment and Climate actions

LIFE program aims at reaching climate neutral Europe in 2050Calls for proposal for traditional and integrated project was launched on 4th April 2019.

LIFE program is divided into 2 sub-programs, one for Environment representing 75% of the budget envelope and one for Climate action, representing 25% of the budget envelope.

Calls for proposal now open !

Calls for proposal for traditional environment and climate projects are now open. Environment projects will have a 2 steps submission, providing first a concept notes in June 2019 and then a full stage proposal. Climate project will have a single step, providing their full proposal by September 2019.

Environment sub program

This sub-program covers 3 main topics, i.e.

  • Nature & Biodiversity, funding nature conservation projects in the area of biodiversity, habitat and species, contributing to the EU’s biodiversity strategy to 2020 the development, management and implementation of the Natura 2000 network;

> Deadline to submit concept note 19th June 2019 / full stage 11th February 2020

 

  • Environment and Resources Efficiency, funding projects in the areas of air, chemicals, green and circular economy, industrial accidents, marine and coastal management, noise, soil, waste, water, and the urban environment;

> Deadline to submit concept note 17th June 2019/ full stage 11th February 2020

 

  • Environmental Governance and Information, supporting projects in the areas of awareness raising, environmental training and capacity building, legislative compliance and enforcement, knowledge development and public and stakeholder participation.

> Deadline to submit concept note 19th June 2019 / full stage 11th February 2020

 

Climate action sub-program

This sub-program covers 3main topics addressing the priority areas of:

  • Climate Change Mitigation : supporting projects in the areas of renewable energies, energy efficiency, farming, land use, and peatland management;

> Deadline to submit full proposal 12th September 2019

 

  • Climate Change Adaptation : co-financing projects in the areas of resilience to water scarcity, droughts, forest fires or floods, adaptive technologies for economic sectors, and safeguarding natural resources;

> Deadline to submit full proposal 12th September 2019

 

  • Climate governance : funding projects in the areas of awareness raising, training and capacity building, law compliance and enforcement, knowledge development and stakeholder participation.

> Deadline to submit full proposal 12th September 2019
